Ice Capades - here we come!

So living in the fridged north, it seems that ice skating is a good skill to have.  The two older kids have been taking lessons for the past couple of months and this weekend was the big skate recital. The recital's theme was “The Sk80s”… get it? The Skateighties –like skate and eighties combined? Anyway all the music was from the 1980s and it was most humorous to see how the music and clothes of my youth were interpreted on the ice.

J and the other boys in the preschool beginners were dressed in suits with sunglasses and they skated to ZZ Top’s “Every Girl’s Crazy ‘Bout a Sharp Dress Man”. We prayed most of the week that he wouldn’t fall and his prayers were heard. He was the only one in his group who didn’t fall down; he didn’t go very fast, but he didn’t fall.

S’s group skated to Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!” They were to wear side ponytails, leg warmers and tutus. We rigged a blue and green side ponytail on Sage’s helmet and she had some totally awesome rainbow leg warmers. The lighting was hard for my camera to cope with, so the photos aren’t very good, but the kids had a good time.
