Yah-bah-daba-dooooooooooo!

We spent yesterday at the Flintstones theme park in Custer. Yep, we had to get at least one local tacky tourist trap in this summer, because that's what we South Dakotans do best!

It’s not a theme park with rollercoasters and such, but there is a train with an aaaaaaaaaaancient conductor and there’s another old guy who gives you a ride around the super-fun-because-it’s-totally-not-up-to-modern-safety-standards playground in either Fred or Barney’s car (gas powered, not foot powered).
The rest is mostly a life-size model of the town of Bedrock. You can peek in the windows of the homes and businesses or climb on the statues of the characters and vehicles for photo ops.
AJ took this one above.  He was so proud of himself.
There are 2 theaters, one plays Flintstone cartoons non-stop and one has animatronic Fred, Wilma & Dino playing a couple of rock n’ roll songs. We didn’t run into any of the actors dressed up as gigantic Flintstone characters. That was probably a good thing since that would have probably freaked the boys out completely. We ate “bronto burgers” and “dino dogs” at the Flintstone Drive-In.  No, they didn’t serve gargantuan ribs that would tip your car over. :(
