more bugs

Well for those of you who were on the edge of your seat all week, just waiting to see if  I went crazy with AJ's party. . . you get to enjoy the suspense a while longer.  It seems that fruit flies weren't the only bugs lurking in our house last weekend and the majority of us had the flu for his birthday.  The whole birthday shebang was postponed until tomorrow.  This was good in some ways, like I was actually able to finish some of the gift ideas I had procrastinated.

I'll give you a sneak peek at the plans for tomorrow.  First, the theme is knights, dragons, castles etc.  AJ always pretends to be a knight or a dragon and actually asked for this theme.  I wasn't even aware that he knew birthday parties had themes, but I suspect his siblings had something to do with this bit of information.  Here are the official invitations.

M got me this fabulous gadget for Christmas that I'm always looking for an excuse to use.  It's a Silhouette cutter.  Basically it hooks up to your computer like a printer, only instead of ink reservoirs and pens, it's got a little knife.  I can take my own drawings, scan them in and convert them using the software that came with it and it will cut out the design for me.  This may sound silly, I mean I'm pretty good with a pair of scissors or an exact-o knife.  Do I really need a whole new contraption to cut for me?  Well I'll tell you it comes in might handy if you want to make 15 cupcake sleeves and you want them to look like this. . .

Actually this one is a little mangled, because the birthday boy has been loving it all week, and it's sort of hard to photograph, but it's a knight on a horse charging a dragon & castle with fireworks overhead.  Plus it says Happy Birthday Sir AJ.  Yep the Silhouette will cut any font I have on my computer too!  Oh the plans I have for this little machine!  I just wish I could hit some magic pause button on my kids and freeze them so I could do half the stuff before they grow up too much to care or like this stuff I'm planning.  If you notice the picture in the lower left corner of the invitation, I modified the drawing for the cupcake sleeve and made that little graphic, that may help you see what is going on in these photos.

Anyway, I'm off to blow up and twist 15 balloon swords for the party.  A full report soon.
