Friday the kids & I harvested some “magic beans” from our garden. There are few times in my life that I can remember being as genuinely surprised as when we split open these beans. I planted them because they have a nice red blossom and I wanted to use them to cover the fence surrounding our garden and had no idea what to expect from the beans. You really won’t believe the colors on the photos, but they really are that colorful.

Saturday we slipped up to Horse Thief Lake to do a little paddling around. There were some really fun rocks to climb on and frogs to catch. M found the fishing to be very gratifying. AJ was sans pants most of the time at the lake & in all the photos because he dumped his juice all over, making his jeans a miserable sticky mess and they were drying in the sun for most of the day. Pants or no, AJ might have had the most fun of us all; especially when he got a hold of a fishing pole & was action whipping it back and forth while the rest of us ducked for cover.
Sunday there were 2 new babies born into our congregation and AJ lost his title of kid-with-the-name-requiring-the-most-explanation. The newest girl is Ainsley, but that pales in comparison to the newest boy, Hröthgar, yes, from the epic poem, Beowulf!
