Each girl transformed a pair of jeans that were too short into a skirt for our recycled clothing entry. These were so quick; easily under 2 hours.

We sewed simple peasant blouses for our constructed clothing entry. It was their first experience with using a commercially produced pattern, rather than some cockamamie pattern I invented. They all said they had a much greater appreciation for the people who sew in factories everyday to make the clothes that we buy at the stores. YES!!! A broader world view!?!?! Success. Here is S's shirt.

Earlier in the summer most of the girls had sewn little stuffed animals and infant ribbon/button sensory toys.

Then Thursday was completely consumed by the interview day and setting up our club’s display area at the fair.

Saturday was spent on the Fashion Review judging, fashion show practice and then finally the actual fashion show.

S and I felt like we REALLY deserved the gargantuan cream puff we shared at the fair when it was all done.
The ribbon count for the club was 1 white, 4 reds, 8 blues, 6 purples and 2 Best of Show greens. S got Best of Show for her infant touchy toy in Child Development/Babysitting project and A.G. got Best of Show for Beginner constructed clothing with her shirt that's why those items didn't get to be displayed with the rest of our club's entries!

That is AWESOME!!! I have such great memories of my 4-H sewing days and now, as an adult, have a much greater appreciation for all the time and energy my mom put into it as a leader. Crazy!!! So happy you're helping provide this experience for S and her friends!
