Happy April Fools Day! We had some unsuspecting friends over for dinner. I served the classic April Fools dinner of meatloaf “frosted” with whipped potatoes to look like a cake (yes, the decorations are dyed mashed potatoes too), Jell-O formed in all the glasses (particularly convincing if they are already on the table when the guests arrive and there is a pitcher of the same colored juice on the table), and pound cake sandwiching orange frosting (looks just like an American cheese and white bread sandwich) for dessert. The other family had forgotten that it was April Fools Day; their 6 year old thought I was the absolute nuttiest mom ever.
