This post is probably a little late by most people's calendar. You are probably all bunny ears and Easter eggs by now. But while Wednesday was a pretty regular kind of day for you and me, it was St. Patrick’s Day, and a life changing holiday it was for my kids. S’s kindergarten teacher claims to have befriended a young leprechaun named Lenny. Lenny left his footprints on Sage’s homework all week and a lucky penny & a note for each kindergartener. S made a tiny little present for Lenny, one green M&M and some tiny drawings on 1 inch squares of green paper of rainbows ending in shamrocks and toadstool houses with leprechauns dancing around them. She had also crafted some 3 dimensional paper shamrocks. I wish I had known about it in time to take photos of it, but she didn't ask for the green M&M until we were scrambling out the door for school and that's when she showed me the present.
J has caught the mania too. He pretends to be Lenny ALL the time and I’m telling you his leprechaun voice and songs are side-splitting. Pirates are ancient history and he has requested a leprechaun themed birthday this year, yes, that will be in June! S has declared that the ONLY thing that will make her happy next year for her birthday is a trip to Ireland to search out and make friends with other leprechauns.
I learned something myself about leprechauns this year; apparently they ALWAYS wear their mom’s shoes.
When S found out that AJ's shirt actually came from Ireland (gracias, Babara!) she nearly died of delight. AJ seems a bit more skeptical.
